Become a Sensory-Friendly Church: Smell & Taste

Overcomer Ministries

We don’t often consider how our church smells and how that may affect people with sensory processing issues. It is important to consider all areas of the church, including kitchens, sanctuaries, fellowship halls, and bathrooms. Sensory processing issues in the areas of smell and taste can cause problems with communion, fellowships, meals and even gatherings such as worship. This video offers many simple solutions for helping those who are sensory avoiders or seekers in the areas of smell and taste. Find out why people chew on clothes, pencils or toys and how to offer safe alternatives.  Discover why people may blurt out or make noises with their mouth and how to help.  By becoming a sensory-friendly church, we can be a welcome relief to those affected by sensory processing difficulties.
